About Us
Co-founders of Time2resources, Helen and Carlo met whilst working as Senior Examiners for A Level Business and A Level Economics. From conversations on numerous train journeys the concept of Time2Resources was born.
In 2008 Helen left teaching and Carlo went part-time, so that they could pursue their dream of setting up a business together. Having spent time discussing the need for dynamic resources and the frequent comments from teachers that, although they would love to have all the resources needed to effectively deliver a course, they didn’t have “time to”.
Whether teaching or learning Business or Economics at GCSE, A Level or vocational qualifications we provide high quality digital and physical resources to meet all the needs of Business and Economics teachers and students. Our resources are supported with popular CPD days for teachers and student friendly exam skills workshops.
Time2Resources was founded in 2008 by experienced Teachers! Trainers! Examiners! Authors! | Helen Coupland-Smith and Carlo Mencattelli.
Helen Coupland-Smith
Helen studied Economics at Lancaster University. She trained as an accountant and worked in HR, before starting her teaching career in the Midlands, teaching A Level Business and A Level Economics, GCSE Business and BTEC Business at a Secondary School and an independent Sixth Form College.
In 1997 Helen became an examiner and moderator. She has since worked as a Principal Examiner, Assistant Principal Examiner, team leader, senior moderator and examiner for a range of A Levels, International A Levels, GCSEs, IGCSEs and vocational qualifications for several exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel and CAIE. Helen has a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics and a Masters in Professional Educational Studies.
In 1996 Helen moved to York where she taught in a large secondary school. As Head of Department she was responsible for overseeing A Level Economics, A Level Business, GCSE Business, BTEC Business, BTEC Tech award in Enterprise and BTEC DIT.
Helen’s experience and expertise in writing accessible, dynamic and imaginative resources has led to an impressive portfolio of end users including Google, Peter Jones Academy, Nelson Thorne, Pearsons, AAT, OUP and many more. She has written several endorsed textbooks including:

· BTEC Tech award in Enterprise
In 2023 Helen acted as an external advisor to OFSTED, supporting them in writing guidelines on what makes a quality business curriculum.
Her experience as a senior examiner, moderator and vetter across a number of leading exam boards makes Helen a knowledgeable trainer and conference speaker. She is a well respected author, INSET provider and conference speaker.
Carlo Mencattelli
Carlo is a seasoned educator who has extensive experience as a Head of Department across multiple schools. He has served as both Principal Examiner and Principal Moderator for a major exam board and has been a Senior Examiner for both A Level Business and A Level Economics for over 25 years, giving him a deep understanding of examination processes and strategies for student success.
He is highly regarded for his expertise in guiding both teachers and students toward achieving top grades, which is evident in his contributions to workshops, INSET sessions, and conferences. Additionally, Carlo is a respected author, writing for major publishers such as Pearsons, and an in-demand speaker, known for delivering insightful and impactful educational content. Carlo is also a proud father of four children, two of whom have followed in his footsteps as economists—one with a Masters in Economics, now working as a senior economist, and another who studied PPE at Oxford and currently works in the charity sector.
His other daughters have pursued their studies at UCL and Oxford University, reflecting his family & strong commitment to academic excellence.
